ENTERTAINMENT: Fake Is The New Real

I spend most of my time watching, talking and blogging about reality TV. My newest guilty pleasure is "The Hills". I never watched "Laguna Beach" when it was on and I barely watched "The Hills" until this season. From the moment the trailer came out, I felt compelled to watch the 20-something drama. Thank goodness I wasn't the only person tuning in. According to the post from Sensation, "The Hills" premiere averaged over 4.7 million viewers. I think it was the fact that they were heading to Paris and that sucked me in. Ooh La La!

I think by now people know that reality shows are not real. If only I had writers sitting around scripting out my everyday life things would flow a lot easier. When I didn't like something I could do a retake. Since every show needs conflict, "The Hills" comes in the form of an annoying couple--Heidi and Spencer. They spend their days arguing with each other, feuding with Lauren and then making up. Busy day right? Somewhere in all that they find time to shop and pretend like they are working. I'm sure the people that really have to work hate them.

I also checked out a post from Chachacha. It said that the fights between Heidi and Spencer are FAKE. Global Grind member UmojaKusaga said, "I friggin can't wait who cares that's its fake!" I total agree…of course they stage fights for the cameras. It's TV!!  Plus, why get a real job when you can sit around all day talking about your pretend feelings and drinking coffee. I wondering if they need a new friend…I could use the extra check." Do you think reality TV will ever be real? Or is real just to boring for TV? -Tanspot
