Looks like folks
were a little upset about the elderly man who was asked to conceal an
anti-war T-shirt at a Long Island, NY mall. When he refused, he was
arrested.
Some people found it shocking that despite living in America, where
the rights of free speech should be protected, an 80-year-old
man was treated this way. 'Guess I’m jaded, ‘cause
nothing surprises me these days.
Brac489 responded to to GG member/GG blogger Danielle Abreu's post by saying,
“an old man can't wear a shirt protesting war without gettin
arrested but young dudes can run around wit buffy the body on the
front of their shirts broadcasting ASS or something else degrading
with no problem.” Really, there are Buffie the Body t-shirts?
Kdollarz1 is up on his Homeland Security, because he posted:
"Yeah well that's just the patriot act. If they suspect any signs of 'terroristic' behaviors they could do whatever they want.
We do not have any rights. Look it up.”
Geronimo, however,
found a more sinister reason for the arrest: “Can you say
FASCIST? Arresting old folks for what their t-shirts 'say'?
Unfortunately, this is just the beginning. It'll get much uglier
before they relent and bring our troops home.” Talk about
paranoia….although that doesn’t mean they’re not
out to get you. Tanspot brings up a good point: “I just
don't understand the resisting arrest...when they had to use a
wheelchair to get him out.”
MrLove252 chimed in as well with: "Change is definetly needed. Soon we won't be able to hide the
truth.” Yeah, people, we don’t have any excuse this year.
I know there are folks out there who think their votes don’t
count. But if you kept up with the mid-term elections, you’d
have to figure it does, as Republicans were resoundingly voted OUT of
office all over the U.S. I urge you, especially if you are between
18-21, to get out and do the damn thing. Voting is fundamental,
people. If you don’t vote, that means you’re cool with
what you got. We have an administration that thinks it’s OK to
spy on its on people and now arrest old guys in a mall for wearing
the facts. Our election process ain’t perfect, but it’s
what we got. And to my people in PA….April 22 is the day.
Pennsylvania is a very important state for Hillary or Obama and
could, at this juncture, determine who goes on. Whatever team you’re
behind, make sure you support them by voting. -Hellifiknow
