I swear I try to stay out of grown folks business when it comes to celebrity relationships, but it’s hard to when the media pushes shows on us like BET’s “Top Celebrity Couples” and VH1’s “Top Celebrity Breakups”. There are only three black celebrity couples that stayed on my radar watch list over the past few years and that has been Beyonce and Jay-Z, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, and Usher and Chilli. How could you not love Usher and ex-girlfriend Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas of TLC? They’ve made a few of those cutest couple lists during their time together and they also ranked in as one of the “Top Celebrity Breakups.” So it’s no wonder Usher’s fans were in an uproar when he dropped Chilli and went on to marry Tameka Foster, his stylist. Although his fans have been very vocal about his union to Tameka, Chilli hasn’t said much to the media about how she felt about Usher or his marriage until now.
In a story grinded by ChaChaCha, Chilli leaked a song online titled “Dumb Dumb Dumb” early last week in which Chilli considers to be Part 2 of the hit TLC song “No Scrubs.” When asked what the song means in a recent interview she explains “you just be in a relationship and guys don’t communicate well, or in my opinion you are the complete package and they mess up anyway and end up with a retard.”
If that statement wasn’t enough, later in the interview Chilli comes out and states:
"I will say this and I know it’s gonna be everywhere. Lord, Tameka gonna be trying to fight people. But honestly I will say, although Marlon [Wayans] is the one that got away, Usher is the one that I truly did love. Like that was truly my first adult love. I love him very much and I will always love him."
Now every since the interview has been released, Usher’s fans have been putting in a silent prayer for the two to get back together. But isn’t it too late? I remember after reading several interviews after the split that it was implied that Chilli wanted to get married and Usher wasn’t ready yet. But just a few years later, he is married with a child. That had to be a huge blow to Chilli. In that case, is she entitled to at least one song addressing her feelings? Will “Dumb Dumb Dumb” be the song that puts her back on the map as a solo artist?
