MUSIC: Musicians Are Not Political Experts

Since we're dead in the middle of an election year, naturally the whole country is more politically minded, and it seems musicians have been the most vocal of all entertainers. Making songs and videos in support of their favorite candidate (Barack) has even led to a new term: Obamamania. However, some seem to be suffering from some other type of mania!

Snoop Dogg recently stated in an interview with a British newspaper that the "KKK gave Obama money". He goes on to claim they are "one of his biggest supporters". This left people wondering if Snoop has truly fried his brain with all that herb - "The weed has definitely affected Snoops mind!!!" says churchlady - while others were not so sure Snoop was wrong - "Personally. I wouldn't know. It could be true or untrue..." commented Kajistyl.

The answer is simple: Snoop was duped! In an article found right here on Global Grind posted almost 2 months ago, it was revealed that the rumor of the KKK endorsing Obama was false. It was actually a fake article posted by a British newspaper called the Dialy Squib which describes itself as a "satirical publication [that] should therefore not be taken too f**king seriously."

In another post from streetknowledge, Alicia Keys states that "Gangsta rap is a ploy to make Black people kill each other." WOW! Implying that "Gangsta rap didn't exist." HUH?! I don't know where Alicia's getting her information, but this one sounds even sillier than Snoop's comments. So by her theory Gangsta rap was manufactured by the government and implanted in our minds? Is there some secret underground bunker where young Black males are being injected with the "thug serum"?!

People are certainly entitled to their own opinions, even when those opinions don't make much sense. But imagine how many misinformed Snoop fans will repeat what he says, and in turn influence others that hear these comments. How many will take Alicia's words as fact - "nothing wrong with Alicia getting a little bit controversial" said Stryker , but is that really true? -Kapital One

Actually I Think Alicia Keys Got Wayyy!!! Good Points On This One... Anyway People Don't Think Anymore That's Why Stuff Like That Sound Silly, Uh Uhhh! Not To Me.

Same For The Idea That Tupac Shakur Was Killed Like That He Can Shut Up Forever Because This Man Was Smart Yeah I Said It "SMART" And His Gangsta Way Was About To Change In The Futur To Lead Black People I'm Telling You Real Talk (The Voice Of The Oppressed). But The Only Thing I Can Say Is R.I.P..

I actually think that what Alicia said, has quite a bit of truth to it.  Just thank back in the Big Daddy Kane, Run D.M.C, Grand Master Flash, and many, many more....Were rapping without all of the "gangsta" in their music.  Which we still did very much enjoy.  Then all of a sudden "Gangsta Rap" came upon the scene and that was a huge (mostly negative) impact on our youth.  Rap was once upon a time innocent, didn't involve all of the guns, shooting, disrespecting women and such...So yes, I hear Alicia, something definitely went wrong somewhere along the lines of rap, and now we have a HUGE dilemma on our hands.  Hopefully, WE (people of color) will wake up and not allow this to destroy our youth and society!!!  We need to take control...and get positive and TEACH our kids positively!!!!  Money is great, but if you don't have any training or morals to go with it, you will definitely get into trouble!!!

i think people have to look at politicians and see whose ideas will fit best in their lives but at the same time what is right for the community as a whole because if somethjing is just good for you and know one else it doesnt neccesarly mean thats the right thing
