If the Honorable Minister Louis Farrahkan can bite the bullet countless times after being denounced by countless black leaders, and be gracious enough to always ask his followers to honor and support those very same leaders, how is it possible that you, Reverend Wright---who claims to be a great supporter of Louis Farrakhan--can't follow his leadership so the community can benefit?

I am done.  I dig Rev. Run, I have a Rushcard, I really support Run's House, but enough is enough.  Our whole lives can be transformed in a moment from "I have a dream to dream fulfilled".  Do I stand around and let one more crab in the barrel mess it up? 6 years younger than Barack, and ten times wiser than Jesse, I feel that Wright's rewards come after every afro-americans to resolve the *** he was complaining about.  Recognize your position in the game is what I would advise to Rev. Wright.  This comes from a black republican.

Thank you Russell, and why would Rev Wright continue to seek the "White Media" to give interviews. Why not grant an interview to some of the Black Magazines or sit down and talk with Black interveiwers such as yourself instead of going somewhere his comments will be taken out of context

Thank You Russell. Your letter should make the media and that would put all of this mess to rest and let Barack get on with his campaign.

Thank You. Thank You.

I think a strong quality of a championship team, is that every member of the team (on field or off) knows their position and plays it well. Wright is acting as free agent and deserves his "waiver'.

True, Dr. Wright has freedom of speech as we all do, however his contempt for Obama showed through and Russel Simmons is on point. Why hurt the man who wants to bring change including eliminating the corruption so plaguing America for decades? You go Russel...uh hmm...Christian Wright huh?

No offense, but I'm not following the Farrakhan comparison. In his prime, Farrakhan always spoke his own truth, regardless of who wasn't comfortable with it. His "controversial" remarks were almost always "denounced" by other so called leaders, but he was at least afforded a modicum of respect. This demonization of Jeramiah Wright is a bit too hysterical for my taste and woefully unfair.

Where has Rev. Wright not followed the same example? Where/when has he asked his followers NOT to support Obama?

I honestly feel the Wright is an ignorant  man trying to gain fame, at the expense of another. I'm not saying I disagree with his message completly, I I do feel like he shouldn't hathrow Obama under the Bus....Wright's comments are just that, comments.. If he was a true friend and spiritual leader he should have came to Obama's defense and helped with salvaging his campaign. People like Wright don't actually want change, they just like to complain about it.

I feel that Wright is trying to use this ill opportunity to elevate his status to that of Sharpton, Jackson, Farrakhan, etc... But it is what it is, a terminally ill opportunity.

Its sad to sad that in the era of being Black in the USA we've yet again fallen for and submitted to black(Wright) causing afliction upon another black(Obama).  Remember our history, in the days of slavery that pitted black foreman against black slaves, which divided us to in-house slaves and out-house slaves.  If Wright with all his intellect believed what he preached about & stood for for such a long time seems to be suspect to allow to be used in this manner at this time.  Surely he knows what a impact his recent statements are causing.  In his attempt to further help the powers that be to discredit, and undermine Obama, he's losing credibilty for himself.  Thank you Mr. Russell Simmons for giving us the forum to vent!!!!!

I agree with Russell. @whomever said that Rev. Wright should go on "Black" media instead of the white media where his comments would be taken out of context. First of all, Rev. Wright knew that being on Black media would get him about two seconds of exposure.

Two, his comments weren't taken out of context. I watched him act a fool all on his own in countless appearances across media outlets the past few days.

I think he is working for the Clintons, why else would he hurt his race at a time like this if he wasn't getting paid?

What I want to understand is, what is this "leadership" people are always attributing to Farrahkan? What are the benefits of that Million Man March? We've got a 50+% dropout rate, a 37% prison population, sister are contracting AIDS(from brothers getting out of prison)than any other group, gang murders are out of control across the country(in Chicago, Farrahkan's backyard, there an epidemic), Crack and alcohol addiction are is killing us, the lost their mosque in L.A., the L.A. minister lost his home. Why all the accolades. We need to stand-up and the hell with all of these so-called leaders.

If we have to stretch ourselves... often... for the dominant society, I feel they should stretch their understanding towards the minority groups, also.

A Mormon woman thought me to be racist because of some things I took creative license with in my poetry.  I laughed at the thought of a Mormon calling ANYone a "racist"... but, she did.  Forget that we had been conversing and having a great time... homegyrl was stuck on a word and could not see past that.

For a minute there, I was reminded that I was in her society.  She was not in mine.  I knew more about her than she did about me.  Seems more often than naught that this happens in life.

I understand where that fire comes from, some might say it is a collective rage that stems from hundreds of years of inequalities.  I DO think that it most certainly speaks for what many of the disenfranchised in the community (we are, after all, in a class system) are feeling yet won't express.

That was noble of Farrakhan to sort of step back and allow Sen. Obama to do his thing and let the people see HIM unimpeded.  He was conscious enough to put it on ice for the election haul.

In the end it should be what is best for ALL, not some.

I agree Russell.  I think some one paid him to be a Judas, but, black people know all to well about our people selling out leadership thats good for the people for themselves.  But I read some comments Joyus and a name less comment slandering THE Minister.... As for Joyus... truth is truth, does not come in brands like sneakers.  You are probably just not man or woman enough to handle it, which is the case with most haters. And acomment made on May 2, 2008... My God, what a bunch of crap... There has been a tremedous change in the black community in terms of education advancement, business growth, black awareness and the most note worthy item... A BLACK NOMINEE FOR PRESIDENT..  You ignorant little demon.. Focus on positives... The Minister dont sell crack, you have to choice to help yourself.  Its a do for self mission.  In terms of the Mosque trying to put people business in the streets make you look like a spinless, low life turd, that feeds on the worst of people and exploiter of people circumstances.  Hopefully you will get a taste of their misfortunes and burn in the hell you choice to delight in.
