Last week news, before the news that Mariah Carey was engaged to Nick Cannon could make it’s rounds, news broke that the two had a shot gun wedding in the Bahamas. Is Nick Cannon in the running with Ray J? People consider both to be considerably corny but they sure know how to bag the baddest chicks. Okay, now all jokes aside, I have a newsflash! I think we’ve all been pranked!
Of course both Mariah and Nick Cannon could both use the publicity of an impromptu wedding (Mariah’s album E=MC2 dropped recently and Nick’s promoting a role in the upcoming film “Ball Don't Lie"). Nick also plays Mariah Carey's love interest in an upcoming video for the new song "Bye Bye", but let’s just stop and think about this for a second. A few things seem strange.
1) The Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey rumors started a few short weeks before the marriage announcement. Although many news outlets and blogs reported rumors of the two being spotted together at the premiere of "Tennessee" there were no photos to support their claims. In this world of blogging and up to the minute info, that’s almost impossible.
2) Nick Cannon gave Mariah Carey the same ring he gave his ex-fiancee Selita Ebanks last year when he proposed to her in Times Square. Do we really think that Mariah Carey would wear a recycled ring? I think her standards are just a little bit higher than that.
3) Jacob The Jeweler claims to have made Mariah Carey’s wedding ring
4) The two, supposedly took out a marriage license in the Bahamas, but a representative at the Island’s registar’s office stated there is no record of a license in either Nick or Mariah’s name.
5) There was no pre nup
6) The union is just damn random…
If those points are convincing enough, Ashton Kutcher, the master mind behind the hit MTV show “Punk’d” that pranked celebrities, has a new show in production called “Pulp Fiction”. <> USA Today describes the show as an eight part series targeting paparazzi and gullible media outlets. This sounds about right..
Only time will tell if Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are really married, but from what I see, we’ve all been punk’d!
