You know it's funny when I ask people have they been keeping up with the R. Kelly trial, most of them say "no". We've been waiting for this child pornography trial to start for years, it has finally begun…but is anyone paying attention?
The trial which finally kicked off this past Tuesday appeared to be drama from the start when the prosecutors and defense began arguing over the racial make up of the Jurors. Out of 12 jurors, Four were black, 8 were white with majority of the jurors being men, except for four women. In a story grinded by SaschasMom, MTV broke down the jurors' life experiences and it definitely wasn't looking good for Kells.
On the first day of the trial, the jurors were forced to watch the infamous sex tape that began with a female (who was naked for most of the video) taking money from the guy that the prosecutors are claiming was R. Kelly. The defense argued the guy on the tape was not R. Kelly as he was missing a distinctive mole that R. Kelly has on his body<>. I'm sitting here thinking "Did they really think a Mole was gonna Keep R Kelly Out of the Hole"?
Just when I thought he might be off the hook, a huge blow came the next day when FOUR key witnesses identified the girl in the video. Amongst them was a young woman who identified that the girl in the video was positively her best friend who was 13 or 14 around that time. She had also visited the house shown in the sex tape with her friend but did not know anything about a sexual relationship between the underage girl and R. Kelly.
With these twist and turns, This trial is just as juicy as the O. J Simpson trial years ago. Unfortunately the multiple delays may come back and bite R. Kelly in the butt.
There's only a little over a week left in the trial but so far, I'm betting R. Kelly may end up in the slammer squeezing his butt cheeks.
So my question is, Is R. Kelly innocent or is he about to be going to the place where everyone seems to find Jesus?
