After checking out Hellifiknow's funny post on the 10 Things We'll Miss About Hillary, I started to think about how much the comedy world will miss the Bush administration. Hate him or hate him, you have to admit that George W. Bush made for some good laughing. From Bush's brain farts during speeches to the maniacal antics of *** Cheney and America's favorite token black woman Condoleeza (no disrespect to Omarosa from "The Apprentice"), the infamous Bush Crew's absence will mean that comedy writers won't have a good G.W. joke to fall back on. Real talk, Obama just isn't as easy to pick on outside of his ears and stiff demeanor and McCain only really has the age thing right now. That will just leave a bunch of jokes about Dumbo, robots and fiber. Lame.
Some of Will Ferrell's best material came out of Bush's hijinx. When Will was a cast member of "Saturday Night Live", his President Bush sketches were always anticipated and hilarious. The guys from South Park were able to create "That's My Bush!" based on Bush's presidency and more recently, Comedy Central started airing the animated series "Lil' Bush" and trust me, it'll make you pee your pants. All that isn't counting the long list of stand-up comics who get at George every chance they get.
There's no doubt that Bush leaving office is a the best thing to happen in eight years but one can only hope that Hollywood's writers are ready for the vacancy of side-splitting political humor. The most we can do now comedy wise, is hope that McCain falls and can't get up or Obama asks some random middle-eastern leader to slide him some skin.
