I know all you guys heard about the $25,000 rap freestyle battle between Rece Steele and Lady Luck. Yes, you heard me right $25,000 for a rap battle. When I heard that Rece Steele was battling Lady Luck, I became extra worried because I know as raw and "talented" Rece Steele seemed to be on the VH1's "Miss Rap Supreme", she may have not been ready for the more experienced and skillful Lady Luck who was once signed to a major record company.
I was invited to the battle in Harlem by Rece Steele's camp (in which veteran DJ Monie Love hosted) but opted not to go at the last minute because I knew that it might get ghetto. Later, I watched a video where Lady Luck tore Rece Steele apart piece by piece. Luck obviously did her research and planned her attacks before the battle even took place. I know they claimed it was a freestyle battle but Luck eventually admitted that she wrote every verse.
Rece Steele did try to show her natural freestyling skills but failed at her attempt when she got mad and let the hood come out. As soon as that happened, her voice heightened went hoarse and we ended up not even hearing what the heck she had to say except for when she threatened Luck with the burners. Bad move.
Overall, 25 Gs was snatched from Rece's hands because she focused so much on being hood that she forgot the important stuff like studying the competition. Steele needed to discover her opponent's weak spots and destroy 'em. I guess that's what Lady Luck was doing when Rece was too busy trying to grab the mic. Um, just saying...
Lesson learned.
